New project in Roseburg aims to give affordable housing to veterans
ROSEBURG, Ore. - If you live in Roseburg, you may soon see tiny homes popping up in your neighborhood.
The local non-profit Valiant Seed will place up to four tiny homes on Cobb Street in Roseburg, with two veteran-owned homes to start off.
The goal is to decrease the housing shortage in the area, while providing affordable housing for veterans.
"These homes are not on wheels. This is not a trailer park," said Teres Mankin, a volunteer with Valiant Seed. "These homes are 400 square foot beautifully built custom stick built homes."
Organizers hope to have the tiny homes completed by Veterans Day. They will also have a community meeting on Saturday on Cobb Street starting at 9 a.m. to get feedback from the community.
