Female veterans get out in nature thanks to a non-profit in Douglas County
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - A non-profit in Douglas County is helping female veterans connect with nature and the community.
"Source One Serenity" began a Women Veterans Hiking Program, with a goal for female veterans to hike, heal and socialize together along the North Umpqua Trail.
Organizers say being outdoors makes all the difference.
"Immediately there's no distractions, there's no clocks, there's no doors," said Brandi Molatore, the Director of the Women's Outreach. "Seeing the women open up in that short period of time and make these bonds is unbelievable."
The plan is to continue the hikes for female veterans through the winter. The next hike is on Sunday, October 7th starting at 9 a.m.
