Takur Conlu

Takur joined the KVAL/KMTR team in August 2021 behind the camera as a video editor. He has since found his way to the front of the camera as a reporter.

It's pronounced "Tucker" if you were wondering!

He is excited to be covering the news in Western Oregon and grew up in Salem before moving to Eugene.

Takur graduated from the University of Oregon in June 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. At UO, Takur was part of the student-led broadcasting program Duck TV where he was a reporter and a creative producer. As a student reporter, he covered the sudden shutdown of the Confucius Institutes around the nation (with UO having one of the first programs on the west coast to be dissolved) and national Broadway musical tours at the Hult Center such as Spongebob Squarepants: the Musical. In high school, Takur was the recipient of the 2016 OJEA Oregon High School Journalist of the Year Award for his work as Editor-in-Chief of South Salem High School's newspaper, the Clypian, under instructor Brian Eriksen. He has also done some videography work for the UO and ESPN.

When he's off work, Takur enjoys movies, television, video games, and is just an all around huge nerd. He also plays the saxophone and marched in UO's Oregon Marching Band for four years. Go Ducks! Takur also speaks Japanese. 日本語OK!
