Ducks advance to Pac-12 Semifinals for fourth straight year
LAS VEGAS — For the second straight night, MiKyle McIntosh and Kenny Wooten kept Oregon's NCAA Tournament hopes alive with late-game heroics.
Thursday in the Pac-12 quarterfinals against Utah at T-Mobile Arena, McIntosh converted a three-point play with 1:02 remaining to give Oregon a two-point lead, and then Wooten blocked Utah's last attempt to tie the game at the buzzer, just like he did against Washington State on Wednesday.
The 68-66 win means that Oregon (22-11) advances to face USC in the semifinals Friday night. The Trojans advanced with a 61-48 win over Oregon State (16-16) Thursday.
The Ducks and Trojans have met four times previously in the Pac-12 Tournament, with Oregon holding a 3-1 advantage. The last time the Ducks and Trojans met in the league tournament was the 2007 championship game.
Oregon won its second Pac-12 crown 81-57 thanks to a remarkable performance from Bryce Taylor.
The junior guard set a tournament record by hitting all 11 of his field goal attempts, including 7-of-7 from three point range. Additionally, he connected on all three free throw attempts to score 32 points.
The Ducks also defeated USC to win the 2003 conference title.
