EUGENE, Ore. - Barcelona. Doha. Eugene.

The International Association of Athletics Federations plans to announce the location of the 2019 Track and Field World Championships at a press conference in Monaco at noon on Tuesday.

That's 3 a.m. in TrackTown, one of 3 finalists along with the Spanish and Qatari cities.

The World Championships, second only to the Olympics in scale, have never been held on U.S. soil.

Eugene literally has a track record of putting on elite-level competitions at historic Hayward Field.

In 2008 and 2012, Eugene hosted the U.S. Olympic trials. America's Olympic hopefuls return in 2016 for a shot at a trip to Rio.

The NCAA held the outdoors track and field championships in Eugene again this year.

And this past summer, the IAAF saw firsthand how Eugene plays host to track and field events at the organization's world youth championships.

So set your alarm clock and check back early Tuesday for more on whether Eugene will be the first American city to host the World Championships.
