EUGENE, Ore. — The OSAA State Track and Field Championships are underway at Hayward Field. Thursday’s final events consisted mostly of 3A/2A/1A field events. Below is a list of winners from our viewing area:
In the 1A Boys High Jump, Yoncalla 9th grader Jayden Churchwell wins with a jump of 1.85 meters.
In the 1A Boys Long Jump, Days Creek senior Keith Gaskell repeats as state champion, winning with a jump of 6.36 meters, an improvement on his winning jump from 2022.
In the 1A Boys Shot Put, Myrtle Point junior Mason Detzler wins with a throw of 15.69 meters.
In the 2A Girls Long Jump, Bandon 9th grader Marley Petrey wins with a jump of 5.10 meters.
In the 2A Boys Long Jump, East Linn Christian Academy senior Kaleo Wellman wins with a jump of 6.71 meters.
In the 3A Girls Javelin, Coquille junior Callie Millet wins with a throw of 38.33 meters.
In the 3A Girls Discus, Coquille sophomore Holli Vigue wins with a throw of 38.34 meters.
In the 3A Boys Pole Vault, Siuslaw senior Kyle Hughes wins with a jump of 4.57 meters.
East Linn sophomore Daisy Lalonde placed first in the girls 2A 3000 meter race with a final time of 10.30.34. Lalonde came in second last year, but this year she's a state champion.
In the 3A girls 3000 meter race, Elmira senior Alyssa Johnson came in second with a time of 10.33.79.
In the boys 3A 3000 meter, Santiam Christian senior Benjamin Bourne also came in second with a time of 9:02.45.
Track finals for 3A/2A/1A schools as well as preliminaries for 4A/5A/6A schools are set for Friday.
