Crater Lake sets new December snowfall record

CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK, Ore. - Remember the forecast calling for 4 to 6 feet of snow at Crater Lake?

Well, they got that - and then some.

The National Weather Service in Medford said Crater Lake racked up 196.7 inches of snow in December 2015, beating the old record of 196 inches set back in 1948.

The snowy December closed highways in the High Cascades with heavy snow and downed trees.
