DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — The filing period for the May 2024 election in Douglas County is now open.
The filing period runs until March 12, 2024, with the election happening May 21, 2024.
So far, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin and Treasurer Samuel Lee have filed for re-election.
David Brock Smith is also running for another term as Oregon State Senator in District 1. Smith represents parts of Coos, Douglas, and Curry Counties in the state legislature.
Douglas County Clerk Dan Loomis is also running for another term.
'I enjoy answering the public's questions,' Loomis said. 'I invite the public to come to our office, and if I have the opportunity, I would love to walk them through our office and give them a tour. Explain to them what our department does and how the election process works.'
