Back to school? Not so fast: Water line ruptures, sends Thurston students home
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A water line ruptured at Thurston High School on Wednesday, prompting school officials to cancel classes and send students home early.
"The temporary repair work to isolate the water line rupture under the weight room that was completed yesterday, has ruptured," school staff said in a statement Wednesday. "In order to make the repair the building’s water supply must be temporarily turned off. As a result afternoon classes will be cancelled and students released early for the afternoon, Wednesday, January 3. We anticipate holding school tomorrow."
Students involved in athletics and after-school programs should contact their coach or advisor, the school said.
Updates, if any, will be posted on the school's website.
