A four-year-old girl died early Tuesday following a car fire at a Walmart parking lot.

Boise PD says firefighters were called out to the 8300 block of West Overland Road at the Walmart parking lot for a fully engulfed vehicle fire. Police say there was a portable heating device inside the car that started the fire.

The coroner did not identify the young girl or release a cause or manner of death. A woman, and a toddler suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

“This is a tragic situation and one that pains all of us to respond to and even hear about,” Captain Ron Winegar said. “Our hearts go out to the family who lost a child today.”

Although preliminary identification has occurred on the girl, the coroner says it will use DNA analysis to positively identify the young girl.

*UPDATE: The coroner originally reported that the girl who died was five-years-old and released a correction stating that she was four-years-old.
