PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A woman died Sunday at Terwilliger Hot Springs, an Oregon destination between Eugene and Bend known for its scenic soaking pools in the Cascade Mountain forest.

The woman, 25, died of a "medical event" while soaking, according to the Lane County Sheriff's Office.

A cause of death has not been determined, sheriff's office spokeswoman Carrie Carver told the Oregonian/OregonLive Monday. The woman was with at least one other person at the hot springs. No foul play is suspected.

Carver said officials don't yet know if the hot springs themselves played a role in the woman's death.

Terwilliger Hot Springs, also known as Cougar Hot Springs, consists of six pools that range from 85 degrees to 112 degrees. None is more than three feet deep. The area is found in the Willamette National Forest, and requires a short hike from the parking area.

The area closed temporarily during the investigation Sunday, but has reopened to the public.
