EUGENE, Ore. - Firefighters closed a stretch of W. 18th Street in Eugene while fighting a house fire in the area Thursday.
No one was in the house at 1810 Pierce St. when firefighters arrived, Eugene-Springfield Fire said in a press release. Three people escaped before firefighers arrived.
Crews shut down 18th from Chambers to Hayes while working the blaze. Flames were visible as firefighters arrived on scene.
Investigators determined the fire was caused by a rented generator being used to power select items while the residence was without power due to the ice storm.
