Art can be revolutionary. Art can be provocative. And in some cases, art can be delicious.
That's the case at Metropol Bakery, a Eugene institution for more than forty years. While Metropol is passionate about how their baked goods taste, owner Donna McGuinness says presentation is just as important.
"I love the presentation. That's really important to us, because you have these wonderful things, and to show them to people and to have people get excited about them, let alone eat them...I mean, it's really very pleasing to me.," McGuinness said.
The art of baking. While Metropol's pastry chef Elizabeth Leroue wasn't born a baker, her love of art led her to Metropol Bakery, where now she creates art through baked goods.
"But just seeing your work when it's done and being able to look at it, and see something so beautiful going out that's not going to last forever...I like that aspect of it," Leroue said.
And, of course, there's another reason.
"I love to eat cake, so that's another reason why I love this job so much," Leroue said.
You and me both.
