Let me ask you a question. Have you ever wanted to eat for charity?
If you answered "no", please reevaluate. If you answered "yes", boy, do I have an event for you!
Chef's Night Out is a yearly culinary event held in the Hult Center. More than fifty different restaurants, wineries and breweries graced downtown Eugene's Hult Center on a blissful Tuesday night...but wait, there's more. All of the proceeds- $75 admission tickets- go to Food for Lane County.
And I, intrepid Tasty Tuesday host Ellen Meny, was there for the 26th Annual Chef's Night Out. I brought my eating A-game, and so did everyone else who attended the event.
I spoke with different restaurateurs at the event, like Bill McCallum, of Billy Mac's Bar & Grill.
"It's a great feeling, the need in this community is so...much more than people realize, and so we really enjoy doing this, and it's a lot of fun," McCallum said. And yes, that is the "Billy" of Billy Mac's.
The event raised more than $90,000 for Food for Lane County, which is enough money to provide 270,000 meals for people in Lane County. If my math is correct...that's a lot of food!
