Students get chance to rehearse in new theater

Springfield - A group of Springfield students had the honor of being the first to take the stage at the new Wildish Theater today. The drama class from the Academy of Arts and Academics is using the theater as a temporary classroom while getting a chance to rehearse on a professional stage.

"You get to work in a cool space like this and I'm pretty excited about that," said Mike Fisher, the school's lead teacher. "What's nice about it is it gives the kids some practical experience working in a professional theater."

The class got a lesson on projecting their voices through the 2.7 million dollar theater.

When it finally opens, students from the academy will also be involved in the management and marketing of the theater. The goal is to immerse them in all aspects of the business.
