State police identifies victims of Hwy 99 crash near Junction City
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- Authorities have released more details on a fatal head-on crash Friday near Junction City and released the names of the victims.
Around 4:35 Friday afternoon, Oregon State Police troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 99W near milepost 111, south of Junction City.
Preliminary investigation revealed a black 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, driven by Aleeshaeseana Gordon-Germain, 40, of Junction City, was traveling north when, for an unknown reason, crossed over into the southbound lanes of travel and crashed head on into a southbound blue 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup driven by William Galt IV, 22, of Eugene.
Both drivers suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased on scene, OSP said.
Troopers were assisted by Junction City Fire, Junction City PD, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, ODOT, and T&M Towing.
The southbound lane of Hwy 99 was shut down for approximately four hours.
Police say crashes are becoming more common on Highway 99.
