Sheriff: Philomath woman charged with manslaughter, DUI after daughter dies in crash

PHILOMATH, Ore. – Deputies arrested a Philomath woman on charges of manslaughter and DUI after the car she was driving crashed, killing her 5-year-old daughter and seriously injuring the driver and her 8-year-old daughter, the Benton County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies arrested Laurie Ramsey, 41, on Tuesday in connection with the June 24 crash on Mary's River Estates Road near Philomath, the sheriff's office said.

Ramsey was booked into the Benton County Jail and later released on bail, the sheriff's office said.

The charges include Manslaughter in the First Degree, Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

The sheriff's office said the crash "resulted in serious injuries to Laurie Ramsey and her eight-year-old daughter. Her five-year-old daughter was killed in the crash."
