Sheriff: Missing Springfield man found dead in McKenzie River

LEABURG, Ore. - A man reported missing Thursday was found dead in a pickup truck submerged in the McKenzie River on Friday.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office identified the deceased as Kenneth Brawn, 54, of Springfield.

Brawn was reported missing May 24 after not returning home from his girlfriend's house as expected.

Around 11 a.m. on May 25, an Oregon State Police trooper spotted a vehicle submerged in the McKenzie River near Greenwood Drive, east of Leaburg.

A dive team removed a maroon Ford Ranger pickup from the river.

Deputies found Brawn inside the truck.

"The Lane County Sheriff’s Office and the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office will be investigating the death; however, there are no signs of foul play," the sheriff's office said. "Cause and manner of death will be determined by the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office."
