LEBANON, Ore. - — A semi-truck carrying sheep overturned in front of the Lebanon Justice Center. According to fire crews, the truck was leaking fuel and oil.
Lebanon Fire District was dispatched to a report of the crash at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Initial reports indicated that a semi-truck had overturned at 2nd Street and Tangent Streets.
When crews arrived, they determined the truck carrying an unknown number of sheep had overturned and was leaking flammable liquids. Crews immediately acted to contain the fuel and oil.
The driver of the truck, who was not injured, began loading the sheep out of the truck and transferring them to another trailer. Unfortunately, a number of sheep were killed when the truck overturned.
Tangent Street will remain closed while the wreck is cleared. Emergency personnel expect it will reopen around 4 p.m.
The Lebanon Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
