EUGENE, Ore. - Saving lives runs in the blood for one Eugene family.

On Tuesday, three generations of the Bredesen family donated blood to the Lane Blood Center.

John Bredesen, his son John Jr. and granddaughter Kelsey, all stopped by Lane Community College for the blood drive.

John Sr. has been donating blood since he was 18 years-old and says it's become a family affair.

"I've donated 139 times to the Red Cross and 67 here," said John Sr. "It's something so easy to do."

John Jr. has also be donating for years too, so it's also become a friendly competition between family to see who can donate the most.

"I am thrilled, we've been kind of in a competition because I got an early start but he gives twice as often so he's trying to catch up with me. my job is to make sure he doesn't," said John Sr.

Tuesday marked granddaughter Kelsey's first time ever donating blood.
