EUGENE, Ore. — It was announced on Monday that Oregon Ducks basketball phenom Sabrina Ionescu will speak at the commencement ceremony, which is set to take place on June 20th.

Ionescu, who herself is part of the 2020 graduating class, has said that she is "humbled and honored" to deliver the keynote address, according to the UO Website.

“I owe it to them,” she said. “They have impacted my life so greatly with the amount of support myself and the team have received from them. I hope my words can bring comfort and inspiration during this time. I’m hoping my words will create change.”

Ionescu is no stranger to the big stage. Earlier this year, she spoke at a packed Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., honoring her fallen mentor, Kobe Bryant, at a celebration of life that was televised across the nation. With that under her belt, speaking in front of a few thousand in Eugene will be a peace of cake.
