EUGENE, Ore. - Road construction will reduce 30th Avenue to just one lane in both directions from Agate Street to Spring Boulevard beginning Wednesday, August 9, 2017.
The project will cost $600,000. | TRAFFIC MAP
Those funds came from a 2012 street repair bond that was approved by voters.
City officials say the projects goal is to preserve the street before it deteriorates as well as make it safer for bikers and motorists.
"Waiting until a street falls into reconstruction is four or five times more costly than if we repair it and rehabilitate it before it falls into that category," said project manager Katie Marwitz.
After the project is complete, 30th Avenue will be reduced permanently into a one lane road at the Spring Boulevard overpass heading into Eugene.
The project is expected to be finished in early September, right before Labor Day.
