EUGENE, Ore. — A new website hopes to help people make new friends during the quarantine.
It's called Quarantine Buddy and matches people with virtual friends. The website pairs you with a buddy based on your preferences.
You can customize the age, gender, and proximity of your new friend, as well as the hobbies you'd like to share with them.
Some users are even using Quarantine Buddy to find a romantic partner, but the founders say its more than a dating app.
"People can make whatever they want out of this," said Sam Brickman. "Some people met up with other people who like farming; other people who like gardening, other moms. Some people just wanted to make a new friend who they can share memes to back and forth."
Quarantine Buddy also offers virtual events such as book club, bartending, and baking.
In just three months, the website has gone viral. Quarantine Buddy has already made over 100,000 matches and has users in 130 plus countries.
