Police: Woman arrested in Coos Bay on strangulation, assault charges
COOS BAY, Ore. -- Coos County authorities arrested a woman Monday on strangulation and assault charges.
Just after 11 a.m. Monday, Coos County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence on Libby Lane in Coos Bay for a reported civil issue.
While en route, deputies learned the dispute had turned physical and there was an allegation of assault.
Upon arrival, it was learned the victim had come into contact with the suspect, Debra Cunningham.
"It is alleged Cunningham was taking broken glass and placing it under the tires of vehicles at the residence, which caused a verbal altercation," the sheriff's office said. "The fight soon became physical when Cunningham grabbed the victim by the neck, cutting off her airway and causing physical injury."
As a result of the investigation, Cunningham was arrested for strangulation and fourth-degree assault.
Cunningham was transported to the Coos County Jail where she was booked and lodged.
