ROSEBURG, Ore. -- If you're still waiting for a holiday gift to arrive in the mail, Roseburg police say it's a good idea to be on the lookout for package thieves.

Police say a Roseburg woman stole an Amazon package from the front steps of an apartment on Rifle Range Road this week.

Witnesses say the woman was ripping into the package as they watched.

Roseburg police say they see an increase in package theft during the holiday season.

"We definitely see more opportunity for criminals to steal things and packages and those kinds of things,” says Sgt. Dennis Chrisenbery, “and they also know the type of merchandise being purchased is oftentimes electronics."

Police suggest you track your packages online and invest in a home surveillance system to reduce the chances of package theft.
