Police: Roseburg man arrested after attempting to elude police, driving recklessly

    ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man who attempted to elude police was arrested on multiple charges this week.

    According to a Roseburg Police Department report, an officer conducted a traffic stop on 28-year-old Andrew Jon McNeil on NW Edenbower near NW Broad around 5:20 p.m. Thursday.

    Police say McNeil initially stopped but drove off in his white '95 Mercury Sabre when the officer got out of the patrol car.

    McNeil drove into the Broad Street neighborhood and then bailed from his vehicle on Kimberly Court.

    The officer chased him for a short distance before losing him in the neighborhood.

    A Roseburg PD K9 was deployed and located the suspect who surrendered without further incident.

    McNeil was arrested and lodges at the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:

    • Attempt to Elude-Felony
    • Attempt to Elude on Foot-Misdemeanor
    • Escape in the Third Degree
    • Reckless Driving
