EUGENE, Ore. - Police are looking for a man in a small white sedan after a shooting on Bailey Lane, east of Coburg Road.
The male victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
The age, identity and condition of the victim are not yet known.
The make, model and plate of the suspect vehicle are not yet known.
Lt. Jennifer Bills said investigators have 3 crime scenes in an area of about 100 yards.
Police received the report of shots fired and a man down with a gunshot wound at 10:05 a.m.
"Police and a bystander provided immediate aid to the person on the ground," Bills said. "That person has been taken to a local hospital, they are undergoing treatment for the gunshot wound."
"These subjects, as we understand, probably know each other," she added, "so this is not a random act."
Bills said she anticipates police will still be on scene investigating into Wednesday.
Schools in the area locked down as police responded to the scene but have since resumed normal operations. The shooting did not involve a student.
Monroe remains on lockout, meaning no one can enter the building.
"If you are a parent of a child at Monroe Middle School, your child is doing school right now as they always will," Bills said. "We are working on a plan right now with 4J for what the 3:30 p.m. pickup will look like. The entire street of Bailey Lane is a crime scene at this point."
Bills said police and school officials are working on a plan on how students are going to leave Monroe Middle School at the end of the day Tuesday.
One of the three active crime scenes is right in front of the school.
"The kids inside Monroe Middle School are safe," Bills said.
