EUGENE, Ore. - Eugene Police plan to target the Coburg and Oakway road area Thursday as part of a traffic enforcement campaign.

"Due to the high volume of traffic in the Coburg Road/Oakway area this holiday season, the traffic enforcement unit will be in the area on December 13 to focus on distracted driving during a high visibility enforcement, in addition to the standard traffic violations that contribute to a high frequency of crashes," Eugene Police said.

The operation will take place at various times throughout the day.

Police also warned the public that wet pavement, gravel and leaves had increased the hazards on local roads.

Officers are also concerned about the reduced visibility during the evening commute.

"During this time of year, the evening commute is now after sunset for most drivers, and further reduces the ability to see other vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians," police said.
