Police: Man reportedly robbed at gunpoint on walking path in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Just before 9:30 p.m. Monday, Springfield Police responded to a reported street robbery that had just occurred on the walking path near Beltline and Game Farm roads in Springfield.

The victim was walking along designated walking paths in the area and noticed a man following him, the report said.

After the victim changed directions several times, he noted the suspect also changed directions each time.

The victim confronted the suspect, at which time a handgun was brandished and the suspect robbed the victim of an undisclosed amount of property and fled the area, police said in their report.

"An area check was conducted using five K9 officers in addition to the five officers assisting with the search," Springfield Police said. "The suspect was not located. Referenced investigation will be forwarded to the Springfield Police Investigation Services Bureau for follow up."
