Police ask for public's help locating 'person of interest' in Oregon shooting
CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. - State police made a public appeal for help locating a person of interest in connection with a shooting early Tuesday that injured a man wanted for pistol-whipping a teen Friday.
Oregon State Police asks anyone who knows the whereabouts of 25-year-old Dillon James Gomez to call 911 or (541) 776-6111.
Police described Gomez as a "person of interest" in the shooting of Eddie Joseph Correia Jr.
Correia was taken to Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass and later transferred to Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford early Tuesday morning for treatment of a gunshot wound, state police said.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office had issued a press release less than 12 hours earlier seeking Correia as a suspect in an assault in Wimer, Oregon, on Friday, August 10.
In that incident, investigators allege Correia pointed a gun at a 19-year-old man and pistol whipped him.
An alleged accomplice in that assault was arrested that night.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
