Philomath hit-and-run kills 70-year-old, seriously injures 85-year-old
PHILOMATH, Ore. -The Benton County Sheriff's Office is investigating Ricky Ray Ferguson, 53, of Toledo, Oregon, for the involvement in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 20 in Philomath that killed one pedestrian and sent another to the hospital on Saturday.
The vehicle that was reportedly involved in the deadly hit-and-run was recovered with the help of multiple members of the Philomath community.
Two community volunteers were collecting debris along the highway when they were struck by a while Ford 350 pickup truck, which then fled the scene.
One of the volunteers, a Corvallis man, 70 years of age, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other man, and 85-year-old mane from Corvallis, remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.
The accident took place at Newton and Main Street, in Philomath, and the vehicle involved in the crash was later located at Priest Road and Highway 20, approximately 10 minutes away from the scene of the crash.
