Oregon Coast heroin, meth operation busted

NEWPORT, Ore. -- An interagency task force made two arrests and say they dismantled a heroin and meth operation on the Oregon coast.

Detectives with the Lincoln Interagency Narcotics Team (LINT) say that on Tuesday morning they served a search warrant in the 400 block of SW 7th Street in Newport.

Officials say a search of the residence led to the seizure of evidence related to the delivery and possession of heroin, along with a firearm and a large amount of money.

Authorities say Giang Hoang Le, 36, and his girlfriend, Brittney Marie Wood, 24, were found by detectives in another residence at the same complex.

After LINT detectives obtained a search warrant for the second residence at the complex, they say they found, with the help of a Newport police K-9 team, about 3 ounces of methamphetamine, one ounce of heroin and other evidence.

Officials say that included two loaded handguns, and over $20,000 cash.

Detectives say that over the past several months, they received information that Le was selling methamphetamine and heroin in the Newport area.

Le and Wood were taken into custody by LINT detectives and lodged in the Lincoln County Jail.

Le was charged with unlawful manufature, delivery and possession of meth and heroin, along with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Wood was charged with unlawful posession of meth and heroin, and was also arrested on a failure to appear warrant for a first degree burglary charge.
