EUGENE, Ore. — Here in TrackTown, we're pretty proud of Hayward Field.
We spent the weekend talking with spectators at the Olympic Trials, both locals and visitors, and the new Hayward was a big topic of conversation. Take a peek at some fan reactions.
"We think the stadium is absolutely gorgeous now, oh my god," said Palestine Mucher, a resident from California.
"Pretty amazing facility like, yeah it's state of the art," said Matt Kaiser and Hang Pham, residents in Eugene. "It's been fun to kind of see it being built over the years and go up piece by piece and then finally see the end product."
"We were here four years ago and we cannot believe the difference," said Dana Halberg, an Atlanta resident and the mother of a trials competitor. "It is beautiful, oh my gosh."
It's safe to say the new Hayward field is a hit.
And of course, the recent NCAA Championships and now the Olympic Trials are the first large-scale events being held here.
And if you haven't gotten a chance to check it out yourself, we'll keep bringing you the latest from the field, and the fans in the stands.
