PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon Liquor Control Commission is asking anyone who purchased Gentleman Jack whiskey holiday gift packs containing complimentary stainless-steel cups to stop using them and to discard the cups.
Gentleman Jack whiskey distiller Brown-Forman has determined a small number of the metal cups with a lip or rim may be sharp and hazardous.
According to the OLCC, the gift packs contain a 750-ml bottle of Gentleman Jack and one stainless steel cup. OLCC stores began selling the holiday gift packs in September 2018. Since then, they say more than 2,200 gift packages have been sold in Oregon.
Brown-Forman also offered the gift pack elsewhere in a 1.75 ml size with two complimentary cups. The recall also applies to this gift pack.
The OLCC says the bottle of Gentleman Jack is not affected by the defective metal cups and is safe to drink.
Anyone impacted by the recall should visit www.jackdaniels.com/gjpack to receive a replacement gift pack. Consumers should take a photo of the metal cup before discarding it.
The OLCC is working with retailers to remove the remaining 1,350 gift packages from store shelves.
