Occupant 'self-extricates' from burning car after crashing in Junction City

JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- A driver was able to escape a burning car after crashing in Junction City, officials report.

At 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, crews from Junction City Fire and Rescue responded to a report of an explosion and fire on High Pass Road near milepost 11.

Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle had crashed down an embankment and caught fire.

The occupant "self-extricated" and was transported to the hospital for treatment, the fire department said.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading into the forest.
