SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A fire gutted a vacant house early Wednesday morning.
Eugene Springfield Fire responded just after 3 a.m. to the home on West M Street and Prescott Lane.
"We had a fully involved house, meaning we had fire coming out most of the windows of the street side," firefighter Scott Fitch said. "Definitely apparent this was a vacant house with boarded up windows and fence all the way around."
Fire crews were able to quickly contain the flames, Fitch said.
Fire marshals determined the fire began on the porch. They have not determined the exact cause.
