SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The Springfield community is coming together this week in an effort to promote diversity and including within the city.
Students at Springfield High School and AARP volunteers are painting an intergenerational mural. Springfield mayor Christine Lundberg and retired State Senator Bill Morrisette are also helping out with the project, which is meant to bring together students and volunteers in the community.
"I was very excited to be a part of something so big and putting my art skills to good use," said Rosario Ruiz Orozco, a student at Springfield High School. "Finally having what I like to see as a big break because I want to do something that's art related in the future."
Lundberg is scheduled to see the project on Wednesday, and the mural will be installed in December on the front side of the school.
