Nail salon stabbing suspect attempts suicide, victim not expected to survive
A stabbing suspect didn't show up in court today, after a suicide attempt left him hospitalized, according to officials.
Than Duy Kim was accused of violently assaulting the man his wife was having an affair with at a nail salon earlier this month. The victim was found unconscious with a significant head injury at the Corvallis Nail Salon on NW Kinds Boulevard around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Officials say Kim, was released from jail to the terms of a release agreement that required him to appear in court Tuesday, December 12 at 8:30 am.
Officials say Kim failed to appear.
Benton County District Attorney Ryan Joslin says after Kim's release, he went to stay with family at a local hotel and was hospitalized yesterday following an apparent suicide attempt.
He is expected to make a full recovery.
Officials say the victim, Mitch Dong, is expected to be taken off life support sometime Tuesday and is not expected to live.
Law enforcement officers continue to remain at the hospital where Kim is. There is a warrant out for his arrest.
