Lane County man arrested Thursday for 2015 homicide, charged with murder
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Police say they've made an arrest in a two-year-old Springfield murder case.
Springfield Police say 50-year-old Edward Hughes killed Leonard Gordon Johnson II on September 7, 2015.
Johnson was found dead at his Mill Street apartment after police initially responded to a call of a dead animal.
Springfield Police say they've been gathering evidence since then and arrested Hughes after finding him in west Eugene.
Hughes, listed as a transient, was lodged at the Lane County Jail on a single charge of murder.
At this point it’s unclear what may have motivated the murder.
