{p}Oregon has two species of native turtles: the western painted and the western pond. "Both are both protected by state law; it is illegal to take them from the wild and to keep them as pets," according to ODFW. Non-native turtle species in Oregon include red-eared sliders and snapping turtles. (ODFW){/p}
