Hundreds of PeaceHealth employees face layoff this spring
EUGENE, Ore. – Nearly 300 PeaceHealth laboratory employees will be laid off on or near May 28.
This is a direct result of PeaceHealth's new partnership with Quest Diagnostics.
Now, WorkSource Lane, a Eugene employment agency, is lending a helping hand to PeaceHealth employees who will be effected by the layoff.
WorkSource Lane is in the beginning stages of working with PeaceHealth employees.
They're providing rapid-response services to help them find jobs.
In the coming months, several PeaceHealth laboratories are set to close.
The changes come after PeaceHealth’s new partnership with Quest Diagnostics.
PeaceHealth officials say some inpatient labs will remain open, including the ones located at the Riverbend Annex, University District, and the Cottage Grove Community Medical Center.
Those labs will be managed by Quest Diagnostics.
WorkSource Lane is working with PeaceHealth to give the effected employees immediate job-searching help.
"We're working together to provide on-site orientations, to deliver just an overview of everything that we do through WorkSource Lane in regards to helping somebody obtain employment quickly or possibly some retraining,” said Julie Davidson, area manager for WorkSource Lane.
WorkSource Lane provides job search services like resume assistance and interviewing techniques.
“Anyone who is affected by layoffs of their employer that we would help in regards to navigating the unemployment insurance benefits program and also helping one get back to work as quickly as possible,” said Davidson.
PeaceHealth officials say all affected employees that are qualified will be given first priority in the interviewing process if they apply for different roles within PeaceHealth.
Officials also say the lab closures will not affect the quality of patient services.
They say their new relationship with Quest Diagnostics will allow them to deliver high quality service.
WorkSource Lane will be conducting on-site orientations at PeaceHealth in the coming weeks.
If affected workers don't have the chance to attend an orientation, they can go to WorkSource Lane to work with them one-on-one.
