Hundreds march through downtown Springfield in protest organized by Black Unity

Marchers turn their smartphone lights on as they march through the streets of Springfield. Roughly 200 protesters gathered in Springfield, Oregon, for a march organized by the Eugene-based group Black Unity. Protesters brought megaphones, airhorns and pots and pans to follow the march?s advertised goal of getting loud in Springfield. Approximately 200 protesters gathered at a rally in Springfield, Oregon, Wednesday evening billed as Let’s Get Loud In Springfield, Bring Your Pots, Pans & Blowhorns. After gathering at the Springfield Library, the protesters marched from 5th Avenue to 14th Avenue, where a teach-in was held. The protesters then marched west on Main Street back to the library, where they dispersed. The entire three-hour rally and march was peaceful and the Springfield Police Department provided a police escort for the entire march. Photo by Jeremy Williams
