COOS BAY, Ore. - 2018 is coming up fast, but there's still time to catch the Holiday Lights at Shores Acres in Coos Bay.

The event has more than 300,000 lights, featuring light-sculptures of whales and other sea life.

Organizers say the display attracts between 40- and 50,000 people each year, but it's a team effort with 1,600 volunteers on hand to help put it all together.

This year marks the first year the park has held the event.

"We started the very first year with 6,000 lights to see if the community would come out in that dark, winding, twisty road out for Shore Acres at night," said David Bridgham, Co-founder of Holiday Lights. "And they did, and it cemented into what became a community tradition."

Holiday Lights at Shore Acres lasts through New Year's Eve, and there's a $5 vehicle admission fee.
