Eugene police search for driver of pickup who struck moped, seriously injuring rider

EUGENE, Ore. -- Police are looking for a driver involved in a hit and run crash in Eugene early Wednesday morning.

Police say a pickup truck hit a man riding a moped at W. 7th and Madison near Taco Bell just before 3 a.m. and kept on driving.

The moped’s rider, a 20-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, EPD said.

The involved pickup was last seen going eastbound on W. 7th Avenue.

If anyone was in the area around the time of the crash, or if a member of the public or anyone at an auto-body shop notices fresh damage to a light-colored pickup, call police at (541) 968-1926.
