FLORENCE, Ore. - High surf battered the Oregon Coast on Thursday, with one man swept out to sea by waves and a group of women hit by a log carried ashore by a wave.

Video from the Siuslaw River jetty area provided by the U.S. Coast Guard illustrated the hazards posed by Thursday's weather.

Waves can be seen carrying large logs, swiftly moving them across the surf zone.

Other shots show waves washing over the jetty, highlighting the danger faced by anyone who set foot out there against the advice of public safety officials.
