Oregon Gov. Kate Brown signed an executive order Friday, extending the state of emergency for another 60 days.
Brown’s first executive order declaring a state of emergency because of the coronavirus outbreak was signed March 8. It expires May 7.
Her new executive order extends the state of emergency until July 6.
The state of emergency order allows the Oregon Health Authority and the Office of Emergency Management more authority to respond to the crisis. It also allows state agencies to waive rules or adopt temporary ones.
