Gold Beach woman lost at sea found deceased in the Rogue River

The body of a Gold Beach woman who was swept out to sea on Thursday has been recovered.

Karen Marie Dunlap, 57, was on the ocean shore at the South Jetty of the Rogue River around 6:15 p.m. when she disappeared, police said.

The Coast Guard had terminated the search on Friday at 10:00 a.m. due to current sea and weather conditions.

At 11 a.m. Oregon State Police say they located the body of a woman in the Rogue River near the area of a sand pit where she was last seen.

As of 2:00 p.m. the medical examiner positively identified the body as Dunlap.

Next of kin has been notified.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call OSP.
