SUTHERLIN, Ore. - Firefighters found a barn fully engulfed in flames on Monday morning.
Crews had to drive truckloads of water to the scene of the fire on Crouch Road due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area.
Douglas County Fire District 2 got the call just before 8 a.m.
Firefighters couldn't enter the barn due to extent of the burning in progress when they arrived.
Captain Barry Hutchings spoke to the homeowner and agreed to try to contain the fire to the middle section of the barn.
"There were a number of sheep inside," Hutchings said. The property owner "got most of them out. He thinks maybe one didn't get out, but he thinks most of the animals did get out of the building prior to."
Firefighters also worked to keep the flames away from a nearby 400 gallon diesel tank.
