EUGENE, Ore. – When it comes to storm damage, what do you do when the city and utility companies say they are not responsible for the tree laying on your house?

Businesses like James Cummings Tree Service can come assist you. Private tree trimming business specialize in removing trees and fallen limbs.

The business owner says they’ve been overwhelmed with phone calls, so they are taking on the most dangerous situations first.

Some fallen trees have displaced families from their homes for days already.

“When I was younger, it was more like a heroic thing, and now it's just another job and I just take care of people the best I can and keep my guys safe and keep the people safe,” said James Cummings, owner of James Cummings Tree Service.

“Driving around town I can see that it's a lot of people are in the same situation. And I think we got lucky. We were able to get ahold of James early,” said Drew Ott, a Eugene resident whose home is impacted by damaged trees.

Cummings said they start working at 6 a.m. and he stops taking calls around 8 at night.

He predicts it’s going to stay busy for several weeks.

The cost for services varies depending on each situation, but they do not raise their prices with the increased need from the storm damage.
