Eugene School District 4J seeks applicants for Budget and Equity committees

EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene School District 4J is seeking community members interested in serving on the district’s volunteer budget committee and equity committee. Applications are due Friday, September 22.

The budget committee examines the district budget and approves a budget to recommend to the school board for adoption.

The equity committee’s mission is to advise the district and act as community catalyst in improving student success among students from racial and ethnic minority groups and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, GLBTQ students, students who have disabilities and students who speak languages other than English.

There are four openings for multi-year terms on each committee. Members with expired terms may reapply.

Requirements: By statute, budget committee applicants must be registered voters and must live within the boundaries of Eugene School District 4J. Equity committee applicants are not required to live in 4J but preference will be given to district residents. Applicants do not need to be parents of students in 4J schools. Eugene School District employees are not eligible for appointment.
